e.d.c. proposes different types of braking systems, shared in two main categories: active brakes and passive brakes.
The active brakes are motors (with characteristics studied for the final application) to set in rotation and/or apply a load to the motor under test.
e.d.c. obviously supplies also the power supply part for the active brake, allowing to set from the program the torque and/or the speed desired, with therefore an automatic management of the brake done by the testing system.
The passive brakes can be shared in different categories:
- Magnetic Hysteresis Brakes
- Magnetic Hysteresis Brakes cooled with Compressed Air
- Eddy Current Brakes
- Powder Brakes
(for more informations, please check the dashboard "Braking Systems")
The variety of benches available (that can be associated to active or passive brakes) is really wide and it’s also quite common that a bench is directly designed and realized on request, basing on the Customer’s requirements and on the tests to be performed (load test, tests with the motor set in rotation such as Back EMF – Cogging – Friction, Vibration, …). All the necessary instruments (load cells or torquemeters for the torque measurement, accelerometers for the vibration, …) is selected and proposed to the Customer (normally with some alternatives), on the base of the characteristics of the motors to be tested and of the Customer requirements (accuracy, …).
